Volunteers of Business School Organizes Activities of Caring the Disabled

---“Growing up with Virtue”

The International Day of Disabled Persons is drawing near. In order to arouse people’s attention to the life conditions of the disabled, Young Volunteers Department of Youth League Committee of Business School organized an activity on the subject of “Real Experience, Sincere Love”, which was one of a series of activities titled “Growing up with Virtue” in the library of YueLu District on November 30.

Although it was rainy in that morning, volunteers still warmly received children and their parents who came to take part in this activity. They knew each other after making brief self-introduction.

At the beginning of this activity, the host introduced the proportion and living conditions of the disabled in our society, and he also showed sand paintings on the subject of caring and loving the disable, so that those children could have a better understanding of this unfamiliar group, and awarded that they should give the disabled sincere love.

In order to let children feel the inconvenience in the daily life of the disabled, volunteers of Business School prepared three mini-games, which could simulate some parts of life conditions of the disabled, and got an active response from children and their parents. For a game named “Walk with a Guide”, children told us their feelings about this game, “I feel scared out of sight.”, “I always want to remove my blindfold.” This game made children deeply understand the difficulties confronted the disabled. Subsequently, volunteers gave a braille book to every child. They tried to touch the lumpy symbols on the book without knowing what these symbols mean. Suddenly, a little girl, with her eyes closed, said in a soft but serious voice, “it says ‘I LOVE YOU’ on this book.” all the volunteers and parents were deeply touched by this scene. And then, all the children read “the Meteors” after volunteers, while Parents used Wechat to transmit this voice to tens of thousands of blind persons far away.

In the next part, volunteers organized children to make cards for the disabled. Those colorful pictures and simple sentences all carried children’s sincere love for disabled persons.

At last, the host presented a video about Liu Wei, a disabled person, together with his partners struggling for their life. Everyone was moved by those tough and unyielding figures in the video. With thunderous applause, this activity came to the end.

This activity gives positive support to the call for raising the ethical standards of college students. Volunteers choose some pupils to participate in this activity, because pupils’ views and values are on the earlier stage of formation, and this activity can lead them to set up correct values, and encourage them to transmit some correct philosophies, such as caring the disabled, loving vulnerable groups, etc. pupils can also learn that it is difficult for the disabled to struggle with fate. Meanwhile, this activity also passes the positive energy to build a harmonious society, and carries forward truth, kindness and beauty in human nature.
