Representatives of Flinders University visited CSU to Promote Study Program Cooperation

On September 6, 2016, representatives of Australia's Flinders University and Central South University, in the 308 conference room of Computer Building, discussed the follow-up operation of the Excellent Undergraduate Program, 1+1 Post-graduate Program and 2+2 Dual Bachelor Degree Program,  as well as other possibilities of cooperation. Ms. Sharon Lu, director of North Asia Department at Flinders University, Ms. Emily Ruan, director of the Guangzhou office, Mr. Gao Dongbo, deputy director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of CSU, Ms. Zhang Yan, director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department, and assistant dean of Business School, Associate Professor Wei Ping attended the conference.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Gao Dongbo, extended a warm welcome to the two distinguished guests of Flinders University on behalf of CSU, and introduced the basic situation of our university from the campus construction, talent training, scientific research and social service etc. He also expressed his congratulations on the programs that have been signed with Flinders University and hope that each will yield substantial results.

Sharon Lu, North Asia Department director of Flinders University, added that Central South University is a very good university and they are happy they can cooperate with CSU. She also stressed that Flinders University is a competitive university with a good learning atmosphere, various subjects, beautiful environment, livable city and suitable prices, and expressed the warm welcome to students from CSU to study there.

Afterwards, the two sides held detailed talks on a series of specific issues: Professor Wei Ping pointed out the problems existing in the 2+2 Undergraduate Program and put forward some constructive suggestions. Then she explained the inevitability of complementary programs such as 1+1 Post-graduate Program and Excellent Undergraduate Program. At the same time, Professor Wei Ping and Director Zhang Yan suggested that a study abroad program for one semester could be developed or offer students tuition discounts to get more students involved. In addition, the admission materials and time of the 1+1 Post-graduate Program had been confirmed and negotiated by both parties, and the program guide is expected to be launched on the website of Business School around October to November 2016.

At the end, the conference ended in a joyful atmosphere. The Australian side said the visit was productive and the participants took a group photo together. Professor Wei expressed her gratitude to the International Exchange Department for their generous support to our international cooperation. Mr. Gao expressed warmly welcomes to the visit of distinguished guests from Flinders University, and hoped to carry out long-term and in-depth cooperation and promote the further development of international exchanges and cooperation.
