In the afternoon of November 30, the construction commencement ceremony of Jiangwan Business Building of CSU was held in the new campus. Professor Gao Wenbing, party secretary of CSU, Professor Chen Xiaohong, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and honorary dean of Business School, Mr. Zou Gang, investor of Jiangwan Group and chief economist of American Investment Bank, Professor Jiang Jianxiang, deputy party secretary of CSU, Mr. Zhou Xianping, president of Hunan Fourth Engineering Co. LTD., Mr. Guo Feng, head of CSU Infrastructure Construction Department, Professor You Daming, party secretary of Business School, Professor Gong Yanping, dean of Business School and other representatives of faculties and students attended the ceremony. The ceremony was chaired by Professor Jiang Jianxiang.
First, Mr. Guo Feng introduced the construction of "Jiangwan Business Building" and explained the project duration and process management. On behalf of the construction company, Mr. Zhou Xianping expressed his determination and confidence to build Jiangwan Business Building with high standard, high quality and high efficiency. Professor Gong Yanping, dean of Business School, on behalf of the faculty and students, welcomed the guests at the ceremony and thanked Jiangwan Group for its donation and support. She said that with the construction of the Jiangwan Business Building, the faculty and students will never forget their original intention, keep in mind the mission, focus on responsibility and create value, and work together to promote the development of the business school.
Then, as an alumnus of CSU and the donor of "Jiangwan Business Building", Mr. Zou Gang stressed the importance of "Jiangwan Business Building" for the development of the Business School and CSU based on his own learning and growth experience. He has higher hopes for the future development of Business School students. Professor Chen Xiaohong described the arduous process of "Jiangwan Business Building" from the motion construction to the site construction and finally to the ground breaking, and expressed gratitude for the strong support of "old classmate" Dr. Zou Gang and the university leaders. She hoped that the school and its faculties and students could develop better and achieve greater achievements.
Finally, Professor Gao Wenbing expressed his appreciation and affirmation to the excellent alumni who represented by Mr. Zou Gang. “Jiangwan Business Building" is the easternmost building of CSU's main campus (including the new campus), and it is the earliest to welcome the rising sun, symbolizing the vigorous development of the university's various undertakings”, he said. At the same time, he urged the faculty and students of the Business School to enhance their awareness of crisis and create a "first-class" sense of mission, so as to make due contribution to the development of the university with a proactive attitude.
With the guests at the ceremony made the first shovel, the construction of "Jiangwan Business Building" began. "Jiangwan Business Building", a total area of 26,000 ㎡ with investment estimation of RMB 95 million, takes the layout of low front and high rear with the main entrance moderately backwards to reflect the school ethos of compatibility and tolerance. The building is dominated by dark grey and grey white, and forms a dignified temperament through the sense of rhythm formed by vertical window. It is believed that the building will inject strong impetus into the "first-class" construction of Central South University.
It is reported that Jiangwan Group (full name: Changsha Jiangwan Science and Technology Investment Group Co., LTD.) was established in April, 2001 in University Science and Technology Park of Changsha Yuelu Mountain. Its investment fields include IT, medical and health industry, education, urban area development, infrastructure construction industry and financial industry. The shareholders and management of Jiangwan Group have many entrepreneurs and scholars who graduated from CSU. In 2012, Jiangwan Group signed a cooperation agreement with CSU and donated RMB 50 million to the education foundation of CSU for the construction of "Jiangwan Business Building".
