On November 19, 2019, Clarivate released the Global Highly Cited Researchers 2019 list. The global list of "highly cited scientists" released is based on objective data from Web of Science, using advanced algorithms to analyze and evaluate papers in 21 disciplines in the past 10 years and cite top 1% of papers resulted from ranking statistics. Listed in the "Highly Cited Scientists" means that the scholar has world-class influence in his research field. 23 Nobel Laureates was listed this year.
There were 6,217 highly cited scientists from nearly 60 countries and regions, of which 11 scholars appeared on the list of three disciplines (2 in China) and 174 scholars appeared on the list of two disciplines (41 in China, of which 3 in our School). Academician Chen Xiaohong, Honorary Dean of our School, Professor Wang Jianqiang, Professor Zhang Hongyu, and Dr. Wang Jing are on the list. Among them, Academician Chen Xiaohong, Professor Wang Jianqiang and Professor Zhang Hongyu all appeared on the "Highly Cited Scientists" list of "Computer Science" and "Engineering". Academician Chen Xiaohong and Professor Wang Jianqiang were also the winners of the 2018 Clarivate “Highly Cited Scientist”.
