摘  要:

Rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have heightened the need for ethical design principles, bringing Responsible AI (RAI) to the forefront across academia, politics, and industry.Despite the plethora of guidelines, RAI is challenged by fragmentation and the absence of a cohesive theoretical framework guiding research and practice. Information Systems literature has also focused more on the development and usage stages, often missing the crucial role of design in embedding ethical principles at the outset of AI creation. In response, this study adopts a grounded theory approach to RAI, drawing on the insights of industry experts, specifically AI designers. Through qualitative interviews, authenticity, control, and transparency emerged as key RAI dimensions for creating a virtuous AI that maximizes beneficence while minimizing maleficence. Moreover, these dimensions exhibited distinct manifestations across design domains of architecture, algorithms, and affordances. As a result, this study introduces the Authenticity, Control, Transparency (ACT) framework for responsible AI design—a comprehensive yet practical foundation for the ethical creation of new AI agents. This framework not only provides academia with a robust theoretical foundation for future research but also guides practitioners in creating institutional guidelines. The ACT framework ultimately represents a significant step toward harmonizing ethical considerations with technological advancements in AI, setting a precedent for future endeavors in responsible AI design and implementation.
